We started our 09/10 campaign with a home game against West Farleigh, we had three debutants on the field in Adam, Tom and Jack W. Within a couple of minutes we had conceded a goal to put West Farleigh one up, the lads did not let their heads go down after conceding so early and piled the pressure on. We were rewarded by a goal for Jack W on his debut.

The boys then had the lead in their sights which they got when Louis scored with a right foot shot to take us 2-1 up. It was West Farleigh who then built up a head of steam and were lucky to pull level through an own goal to make it 2-2, this was despite the gallant efforts of our keeper Callum and the defence of Jack S, Adam and Andrew, we then rallied to try and get the lead and the three points but it was not to be and West Farleigh made the most of a chance to nick the winner at the end making it 3-2 to West Farleigh.
All the boys played excellently with the three boys who made their debuts having great days. Tom was man of the match.

Our next game was against Cranbrook which was also at home. Ben was making his debut for Pilgrims in this match as our striker. Both teams started lively and Cranbrook took an early lead, Pilgrims did not take it lying down and then played some of the best football I have seen them play for the remainder of the first half, we should have had at least a couple of goals. Ben, Tom, Louis and Jack W played some excellent passing football with some good moves slicing Cranbrook apart. We got a goal back to make it 1-1 from a free kick just outside the area which Louis dispatched into the back of the net, this was after some fantastic defending from the returning Jay and Adam and another solid display from Callum between the sticks. In the second half Cranbrook came at us and took the lead to make it 2-1, this was despite some fantastic defending from Adam and our substitute Jack S. We then let our heads drop a little and Cranbrook managed to net themselves two late goals to make the final score 4-1 to Cranbrook. It was a great debut for Ben with the whole team giving a fantastic performance, if we play like we played for the first half the rest of the season will be successful. Jack W and Adam share the man of the match accolade.

Our next fixture is our first away game of the season at league new boys Hawkhurst, and then we have the first round of the cup in which we have drawn Burwash B.

C’mon the Pilgrims.
